Review: The Bourne Legacy

Saw "The Bourne Legacy" today. It was pretty great...I'd probably give it four of five stars. It was almost everything a Bourne movie should be. The action in the movie was very good.

We start out watching Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner) pretty much proving he's superhuman, and getting caught up on some of the back story. He's climbing over a mountain "nobody ever crosses", hunted down by wolves...before meeting up with his contact.

We see though that he's been thinking... that he's not entirely comfortable with everything he's being told to do, and he's having a few doubts about the Treadstone project. The real catalyst for all the action in the movie though isn't Aaron's doubts, "going off the rez", or "resetting" like Jason did...

The events in this movie are pieced together with some flashes from what was happening in the Bourne Ultimatum which leads to Treadstone being shutdown. The start deleting all the participants in the project, and through sheer luck, they miss Aaron. This sets up the sequence of events of him meeting up with Dr. Marta Shearing (Rachel Weisz), saving her life, and working to prolong both of theirs.

Overall there were few slow parts to the movie, and the action was mostly non-stop. Rachel Weisz is pretty to look at, and does a decent job. Some parts were over the top, as this type of movie is prone to do, but over all it was very good, enjoyable, and well worth the cost of the movie ticket. The only really disappointment is that I wanted a cameo from Jason Bourne (Matt Damon), and there wasn't one. Aaron Cross is no Jason Bourne, but I'd go see it again.

Have you seen it yet? Planning too? Leave a comment and let me know what you thought!
