As with virtually anything I write, there may be spoilers. I don't plan to censor myself or put any further alerts. I'll try not to "ruin" a movie/show/book for you, but you've been warned!
Currently the big show I've been watching is; How I Met Your Mother. Its a pretty funny sitcom, and while Netflix says, "Playing around with traditional sitcom structure" I don't see it. Its a great show, but I'm not sure where they think they're getting away from "tradition". Much of the show takes place at either Marshall, Lily, and Ted's apartment, or downstairs at the bar (Friends anyone?). IMDB has a much better show synopsis.
For the most part we follow Ted (Josh Radnor), through a few decades of his life as he searches for his soul mate. Naturally it can't be a straight search, that would be a Lifetime original movie, but he goes through adventures with his friends, has a few girlfriends, one night stands, and presumably eventually meets his dream girl (I'm on S3). The show is told from the point of view, that Ted is telling his kids the story of how he met their mother, which occasionally adds some awkwardness to the show. Like when he's telling his kids one of his college stories, he doesn't want to tell them they were smoking pot, so they refer to pot as a sandwich "Dude, I don't think I've ever had a sandwich this good..." and "Chew chew chew chew, swallow! (they all giggle)" are a couple of the cover up lines. Its a great cast and Neil Patrick Harris really makes the show as Barney, the confirmed bachelor and woman chaser. Half-way through season two, we find out that Barney has a brother, played by Wayne Brady! The show has some great one-liners, and running gags. They are quite witty, sometimes risque, and not afraid to air episodes with issues that would leave other shows quivering.
Just past half way through season three and I'm still laughing every episode. This show gets a five star rating from me.
