I'm writing from my kindle fire. It's tedious and slow going (Don't those mean pretty much the same thing?), I'll have to edit later and hopefully catch the errors, but it is marginally better than blogging via phone.
Well it has been a few days since my last post, and I've managed to watch two (A third now that it took me a bit to get this post finished, but hey, who's counting?) movies and an episode of Better Off Ted. Another hilarious comedy, in today's episode Ted manages to get himself in trouble for sexual harassment while he's trying to help out Linda. Veronica comes up with the idea, and gets the "guys from upstairs" to declare sexual harassment a disease, and therefore as long as the employees attend a seminar, they can't be fired or disciplined for being harassing. Fun ensues in the office... :D Two seasons worth is streamable on Netflix.
The first movie was Abduction with Taylor Lautner. I thought the movie was pretty decent despite the negative hype from amateur critics. Taylor performs well, does a very good job with his stunts, and action scenes. Sure the movie is kind of a "Bourne" knock-off, but pretty much every movie out there is just stirring the pot, and trying to put the pieces together just different enough that you might spend money on their movie. It was entertaining, and that's really the point. I think most of the bad reviews are people that either a: hate Twilight, or b: are jealous that their girlfriend/wife thinks Taylor is hot. I'd give the movie about 7.5/10 stars.
The second movie was Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Very good movie. I'll have to watch it another time or two to really get the feel of the movie down. First time through it almost seems like you're so busy learning everything, and trying to keep up with the super smart chimp, that you can't quite follow everything that's happening. I still haven't decided if I think the main character redeemed himself after leaving Caesar at the "shelter". He knew it was a bad idea when he first left him, he really knew something was wrong when he went back...WEEKS later after saying he'd come visit soon. Yeah, so he got caught up in his work, and he was trying to save his dad...but he made a promise to Caesar, who was like his son. Will (James Franco) even told Caesar at one point that he was his father...would you leave your kid in a place like that?
Overall though, good movie, solid acting. John Lithgow was his normal superb self. The computer work with the chimps was very good. Every once in awhile you could think they were real chimps, but could never quite get 100% there. Especially during the fast movement scenes, just not quite the way a real chimp moves, not quite fluid enough. I would definitely watch it again.7/10 stars...maybe an 8 after another viewing or two.
Better Off Ted can be streamed with your Netflix account, or with Amazon Prime account.
Something I've never noticed before at Amazon...interesting trend, I hope they increase this dramatically. If you buy: Rise of the Planet of the Apes (Two-Disc Edition Blu Ray + DVD/Digital Copy Combo) for $19.99, you also get a credit for the 48 hour rental stream. So while you're waiting for you disc in the mail, you can watch the movie. Very awesome I think!
i've never really liked the planet of the apes movies, but the new one was pretty good, in my opinion. but i do agree he should have never left him at the shelter! i thought about this and if it was my animal i would have been pissed!! i wouldnt just leave him there and i would do something about it, there has to be someone to report their behavior too, although it is a movie, so it's not "real life" but it's the same concept. i'm not leaving my animal with any one i dont trust, or have a "bad" feeling about! i really liked the gorilla! he was pretty much my fav! but it was a pretty good movie for not liking any of the others!
